figure ground gallery, april 2023

Welcome! I’m Austin Picinich.

I’m an 18-year-old artist, community catalyst, and student at University of Washington (Seattle).

I’m the founder & artist of the nationally-awarded Save Our Salmon (SOS) Mural Series. So far, I’ve led 700 volunteers painting a 112-foot SOS Mural along Juanita Creek (Kirkland), and a 188-foot SOS Mural above McAleer Creek (Lake Forest Park, WA), and a 1,800 sq ft mural at the Western Fisheries Research Center (Magnuson Park, Seattle).

In 2022, I won the Barron Prize for Young Heroes, and SOS was named one of the top 15 national projects making communities better. My murals have been featured on KING 5, KOMO 4, The Seattle Times, and the national Inspiring Young Heroes documentary.

Look for my art in over 70 Western Washington businesses, retail shops, and galleries - and find my booth in over 40 Western Washington art festivals!
